Wagner, Richard  (1813 – 1883)
German Composer. Born Wilhelm Richard Wagner in Leipzig, Germany. He and Giuseppe Verdi are credited with developing Opera into a fully integrated art form. He regarded himself, as "the most German of men" and "the German spirit" and is known because of his 13 operas and numerous other compositions. His most famous are Der Ring des Nibelungen, Tristan und Isolde and Parsifal.
