Kelvin, William Thompson (Lord)  (1824 – 1907)
British scientist. Born in Belfast, Ireland. Published 661 papers on scientific subjects and patented 70 inventions. He was knighted by Queen Victoria for his work on the electrical engine, and was in charge of laying the first successful transatlantic cable.
