Windsor, Edward, Duke of,  (1894 – 1972)
Edward VIII, British monarch. Born Richmond, Surrey, England. who abdicated his throne after only reigning eleven months in order to marry Mrs. Wallis Simpson, a twice divorced American woman. He then was created the Duke of Windsor. He was immensely popular before he came to the throne for his sympathy for the less fortunate and his valiant service during the Great War.
