Audubon, John James  (1785 – 1851)
American Artist and Ornithologist. Born in Les Cayes, Santo Domingo (now Haiti). Moved to America in 1806. He is most noted for his drawings and painting of North American birds. He illustrated Birds of America, a four volume set with most of the scientific identification and nomenclature provided by other contributors.
